IDEO Summary

The news report on the company IDEO discusses the way in which this company churns out new designs to other companies in creative and innovative ways. The video opens talking about how it used to be, with people always deferring to the boss, who supposedly had the best ideas. The video then showed that that is not the case. At IDEO, people get together in groups to create or redesign objects for many different companies. Within these groups, people discuss ideas, draw up sketches and try to come up with the best overall concept for a solution to whatever the given problem is. Then they go out into the world and interview people about the problem, trying to figure out the best way to solve it innovatively. Everybody regroups at the IDEO headquarters where they split off into small groups and design different prototypes. After this is done, all of the groups meet together and present their prototypes to each other. They combine forces once again to create the final prototype, which will hopefully be good enough to go into production. This process usually takes about a week. All of the group members are treated as equal and they all work together to come up with the final solution.
